What if we could level the playing field for every child? With Educare, we can.
The Ounce developed the first Educare school in Chicago in 2000, to serve children birth to age five and their families in what was the poorest census tract in America. Since then, we’ve partnered with the Buffett Early Childhood Fund and early childhood champions across the country to build a national network of Educare schools and improve access to high-quality early education across the country.
As one of the nation’s most diverse and effective networks of early childhood schools, the Educare Learning Network gives young children in under-resourced communities the best chance for success in life. Our approach extends beyond the classroom to help children, families and neighborhoods thrive.
Educare works. Our comprehensive program incorporates what science says children birth to age 5 need to flourish. Several years of rigorous evaluation shows that when children leave Educare for elementary school, the majority are academically, socially and emotionally prepared for kindergarten.
