Davis brings business acumen and education passion to early learning leader
CHICAGO – The Ounce of Prevention Fund announced that Matthew Davis has joined the organization as chief operating officer, effective September 1, 2016. As COO, Davis will have direct oversight of core Ounce functions, including business development, finance, operational strategy, talent management and technology.

His experience with growing organizations and managing diverse teams will be instrumental in helping us align our strategy and operations to best reach the 6 million young children living in poverty in America,” says Diana Rauner, president of the Ounce of Prevention Fund.
Davis joins the Ounce from Illinois Tool Works, where he mostly recently served as vice president and general manager, powertrain components, North America. In this role, Davis developed and executed the division’s growth strategy and led a team of six across seven facilities that employed more than 1,000 staff.
Prior to Illinois Tool Works, Davis held leadership and consultant roles at Healthcare Performance Partners, Cummins, Inc. and Andersen Consulting. While Davis’s recent career has focused on manufacturing and consulting, he began in higher education, working in admissions at Kenyon College and DePauw University.

Now I get to pursue that passion as part of an organization that has a deeply rooted history of quality and commitment towards outcomes,” says Matthew Davis, chief operating officer of the Ounce of Prevention Fund. “One of the strengths of the Ounce is the value it delivers to families, and I’m excited to help the organization continue to change lives.”
In addition to his deep professional experience, Davis brings a longtime commitment to strengthening community. He is a member of 100 Black Men of Chicago, Inc. and actively serves as a mentor for the West Chicago program. He is also a member of Calibr Global Leadership Network and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. public service fraternity. Davis holds a BA in political science from Pitzer College in Claremont, CA and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.
