The Ounce partners with PBS KIDS to empower parents

The Ounce, in partnership with PBS KIDS, the national leader in children’s educational media, will pilot an innovative family engagement program in three cities in 2019, thanks to a new grant.

The new funding will be used to pilot Launching Learners, a program designed to empower parents to support the social and emotional development of their young children to ensure all preschoolers are prepared for success in kindergarten and beyond.

The award will allow the Ounce to spend 2019 further developing the research-based programming that delivers engaging text messages directly to parents with simple and fun messages that leverage PBS Kids’ iconic characters. The digital content will be reinforced and strengthened by staff-facilitated in-person meetings and conversation informed by Ounce expertise in areas such as self-regulation, managing change and the capacity to get along with others. This innovative, two-generation program will help to ensure all children show up at kindergarten excited and ready to learn!
