A System To Measure Organizational Conditions Essential To Continuous Improvement In Early Childhood Education

Decades of evidence indicate that high-quality early childhood education (ECE) positively affects children. Yet studies on ECE programs reveal that too few implement high-quality programming. To date, efforts to improve ECE have primarily focused on what occurs within the classroom. We are working to broaden the focus beyond the classroom to consider organizational conditions that support teachers and the relationships among staff, children and families. The Ounce has created a new measurement system, Early Education Essentials, which allows ECE leaders to measure those organizational conditions in their programs.
