Supporting Chicago children and families during COVID-19

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to spread across the country, it is clear that this will not be a short-term crisis. Children and families will be impacted by this dire health emergency for months, and perhaps years, to come.

The health and well-being of the children, families and staff in the Ounce’s early childhood programs in Chicago remain our top priority. Since early March, we have been raising funds and collaborating with key partners to ensure our children and families have the resources and financial supports to navigate this unprecedented time.

In addition, we have partnered with the Chicago Community COVID-19 Response Fund, a collaboration of the Chicago Community Trust and United Way of Metropolitan Chicago, to provide $100,000 in emergency relief funding to more than 2,200 families who are currently enrolled or alumni of our early learning programs.

Our family support and teaching teams are also using creative ways to engage families virtually and continue to provide quality education to children while at home. In addition to digital supports, the Ounce held a “drive-up” distribution event at our Educare Chicago school to hand out gift cards to help families with immediate needs.

We’d like to thank our dedicated staff and supporters whose donations over the last few weeks are helping our youngest learners thrive during this unprecedented time. Donate now to help us continue to support those most in need during this crisis.
